Hooray – our first official Spring weekend is here! Nothing paints a picture of Spring quite like tulips, horses and beautiful floral quilts – so naturally, Oregon is serving up all of the above.
March 22 – 23rd – Quilt Festival
Quilt making is part of the proud history of creating vernacular art and is a truly American art form. Well-made quilts reflect the creative skills of their makers and convey a sense of the time and effort that went into their making. Quilts have always represented community. They reflect who we are and the times in which they were made. Visit the 45th Annual “A Festival of Quilts” this weekend at the Expo Center view some truly gorgeous quilts. Certainly, you’ll be amazed at the mixed media art quilts that almost look like paintings! You can watch demonstrations, shop, enter a raffle to win one of the intricate creations for yourself. Kids will enjoy a treasure hunt and food and beverages will be available. Admission is only $8 and kids 12 and under get in free.
March 22 – 24th – Horse Show
The Northwest Horse Fair & Expo has become an annual tradition for horse owners and horse lovers in the Northwest. The show will be held at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center in Albany, Oregon. The spectacle combines to the highest degree, first rate education, entertainment and shopping. March 23 through the end of April – Tulip Festival
It’s that time of year again – the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn has returned! From expansive views of distant mountains to vineyards, and strolling through rows of tulips in a rainbow of colors, you’ll marvel at the fresh flowers, food and fun for the entire family, rain or shine. March 23 -24th Documentary Film Festival
The creators of the Oregon Short Film Festival launched this festival in 2017 to specifically target the Portland Documentary Film audience. The Oregon Short Film Festival screens all genres of films, but noticed through research and attendee feedback, that the documentary films were the most popular. After the success of the 2017 and 2018 screenings, 2019 is sure to be the most popular event ever. The film selection is varied and interesting, an you can take part in the inquisitive and insightful Q&A sessions with the film creators. The event takes place at 5th Avenue Cinemas on the campus of Portland State University downtown. Film aficionados don’t want to miss this festival!
