With the weather this weekend, it’s looking like Spring is on it’s way! Fortunately, there is plenty to do around town to help you welcome the sunshine.
February 28 – March 3rd – The Science Behind Pixar
Have you ever wondered what happens before an animated film reaches the big screen? The Science Behind Pixar is your chance to experience the science, technology, engineering and art concepts that help bring Pixar’s award-winning films to life. OMSI is only hosting this fascinating event through March 8th, so make sure to get your tickets now!
March 1 – 3rd – Antiques and Collectibles Show
Attending the Spring Antiques and Collectibles Show can be an emotional and fun-filled journey into the past. You’ll possibly see items from your childhood, provoking wonderful memories. For many, it’s a second chance at owning an item that you thought you’d never see again. Some items you’ll find at the show include pop collectibles, vintage clothing, glassware, silverware, antique radios, movie memorabilia, collectible toys, porcelain dolls, Star Wars collectibles and much more! You can even have an item appraised. Accredited appraisers will be at the show during all public hours, providing verbal market evaluations for $7 per object. All proceeds benefit the Portland Police Sunshine Division, providing food and clothing Portland families and individuals.
February 28 – March 2nd – Performance Art Show
NW Dance Project celebrates its 15th Anniversary Season with this one-of-a-kind performing arts experience. Trip the Light Fantastic will unfold in a hidden Portland gem – the four-floor headquarters of tech company Expensify in the transformed historic First National Bank building. This show requires you to walk up and down stairs to view the full performance. Once inside and up the majestic staircase, experience special new site-crafted dance works from members of the Oregon Ballet Theatre. There will also be Portland performing arts notables, including beloved actor Susannah Mars, music from Pink Martini members and other incredible bands. To top it all off, you’ll get to participate in an exploratory artistic treasure hunt. The show will be hosted by former NW Dance Project star dancer, and Princess Grace Award winner, Viktor Usov. There is limited capacity and the show is expected to sell out.
March 1 – 3rd – Tour Your City
If you’ve ever wanted to be a tourist in your own town, this is the way to do it. Offered by Wildwood Adventures, this tour will immerse you in the town’s history and discover how the once little-known fishing village has now become a popular international destination. See the wonderful city that you call home in a new light and get a taste of the charm that Portland offers to its explorers! Nestled at the base of a volcano and bundled snugly by old growth forests, our city boasts a landscape beyond a basic urban environment. This is a half day tour, typically offered from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. or 2 p.m.-5 p.m. The tour route and sights vary depending on the season and weather conditions, but the objective is always to provide you with the most interesting adventure possible.
