We’ve got beautiful weather ahead – and Portlanders know that you have to take advantage of every sunny day, especially this time of year! Here’s some things to do to while you’re out and about this weekend…

November 9-11th – Holiday Gift Show

The 29th Annual Holiday Food & Gift Festival returns at the Oregon Convention Center, in downtown Portland. This festival is one of the largest holiday celebrations in the Northwest, drawing thousands of people each year who happily complete their holiday shopping early. The festival offers one-of-a-kind gifts that cannot be found anywhere else. Featuring art, crafts, jewelry, clothing, wood, music, photography, toys, Christmas décor, and much more! There is a large food area where you can sample and purchase food items including tea, chocolates, pasta, soups, dips, meats, coffee, jams, shortbread, salsas honey, sauces and many more delights! Santa will also be making an appearance during select hours. Visit the website for times and admission prices. Kids 12 and under get in for FREE!

November 9-11th – Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention

Not ready to face the reality of the holidays quite yet? Then OryCon 40 is the place for you! OryCon is Oregon’s premier, fan run, annual science fiction/fantasy convention held in Portland since 1979. The event is a 100% volunteer based production of Oregon Science Fiction Conventions, Inc. The event features art shows, games and crafts, author readings, 40 costume and jewelry vendors, and “Guests of Honor.” There is a schedule posted online so you can make the most out of your trip to Jantzen Beach.

November 10th – Literary Festival

Readers unite! Formerly known as “Wordstock”, the 2018 Portland Book Festival, at the Portland Art Museum, will feature 100 authors presenting on nine stages, pop-up readings throughout the Portland Art Museum galleries, and 13 writing workshops. The festival includes activities for readers of all ages, an extensive book fair with over 80 vendors, local food trucks and partner events. Attendees 17 and under (or with a valid High School ID) get in for free.

November 10-11th – Winterhawks

Winter means Winterhawks! Get your tickets for either (or both) games this weekend. On November 10th the Portland Winterhawks are playing the Kelowna Rockets at the Moda Center and on the 11th you can watch them face-off again at the Verteran’s Memorial Coliseum. Who says there’s such a things as too much hockey? Visit the Hawks website for ticket bundles!
