Hello, weekend! The first weekend in November is always memorable. Holiday season is coming and we always start to see small hints of it’s presence around town. Bundle up this weekend! Rain or shine, it’s starting to get a little windy out there.
November 3-5th– Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase
If you love a healthy competition, the Lan Su Chinese Garden and the Floral Design Institute is hosting the Ninth Moon Floral Design Showcase this weekend. Check out beautiful designs as they acknowledge “mumvember”, an annual celebration of the chrysanthemum. The floral show contest with judge each entry including chrysanthemums as a part of the display. Designers will use floral design styles and forms that utilize fresh floral materials and foliage in their entry. The exhibition is designed to celebrate the beauty and significance of these flower. It’s also nice to recognize the floral art and creative talent of floral designers in the Pacific Northwest.
November 4th — NW’s Largest Garage & Vintage Sale
Do you love the idea of a community garage sale? If so, this event is for you! NW’s Largest Garage & Vintage Sale is here, and sellers are coming together to provide shoppers with a great experience in a safe environment. Admission costs are low and the event has something to enjoy for all ages. If you would like to save money and grab a few things, you’ll have your chance from 8am – 4pm on Saturday, 11/4.
November 4th — Full Spectrum Fundraiser
The Portland Winter Light Festival is an outdoor event that celebrates winter and community through illuminated art installations, vibrant performances, stunning kinetic fire sculptures, and highly interactive activities for the whole family! FREE and open to everyone, with more than 40,000 visitors this past year, this nighttime festival brings over 100 artists, designers, makers, and performers together. And this is all in an effort to turn the wintering city into a tapestry of light and celebration. Next year’s show will be spectacular, but first, they need our help. If you would like to attend the Portland Winter Light Festival’s first-ever fundraiser, purchase a ticket and join them at the contemporary arts center, Disjecta.
November 4th & 5th — Sitka Art Invitational
The 2017 Sitka Art Invitational is finally here! Starting on Saturday, November 4th, World Forestry Center visitors will be able to experience a variety of nature-inspired artwork. Their 24th annual Art Invitational will showcase 350+ works of art by more than 140 Northwest artists.
November 5th — Portland Timbers vs. Houston Dynamo
RCTID! The Rose City made it! If you would like to splurge and watch the Timbers in the playoffs, you can purchase a ticket and cheer them as they compete for the MLS Cup vs Houston. The game is on Sunday, November 5th at Providence Park at 4:30 p.m.
