As we enter the first weekend of December, everything Christmas has begun. Here are a few options to get your fill of holiday sights, lights, food and fun!

November 30-December 2 – Christmas Bazaar

This is your last chance to catch America’s Largest Christmas Bazaar, hosted by the Portland Expo Center for one final weekend. The event has 400 booths of locally handcrafted items plus 500 booths of commercial holiday products. This incredible festivity has been presented by the same small local company for 33 years! The show offers a great opportunity to buy unique gifts in all price ranges. Since 1982, the population of the Portland/Vancouver area has considered the Christmas Bazaar to be both a holiday tradition and a great resource for shopping for the holidays. One of RDF’s very own has an exhibit this year! Make sure you stop by and say “hello” to Athena and check out her magnificent macrame collection. All of the work is done by her and her amazing mother as the Knotty Women Studio.

November 29-December 2 – Christmas in the Garden

Christmas in the Garden is an impressive holiday event in the Silverton, Oregon, just one hour north of Portland! The festival is based on a traditional European-style Christmas Market, showcasing all the sights, sounds and smells of the season. You can experience one million lights, snowless tubing and ice skating all while feasting on a variety delicious food from pizza to fondue. Explore the market vendors and find the perfect Christmas gift. Enjoy music from choirs and cozy up to a wood-burning fire pit. Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance to save money and because certain nights may sell out.

November 30-December 1 – Christmas Trees in Portland

November 30-December 2nd – Christmas at Pittock Mansion

Pittock Mansion is one of Portland’s most well-known historic house museums, with it’s panoramic views of Portland, the Willamette River, and the distant Cascade Mountains. Now through the end of December you can stroll through Pittock Mansion during A Very Portland Christmas, and see the Mansion creatively transformed into a hobbies and pastimes holiday extravaganza. The mansion is decorated for the holidays by professional designers and volunteers to highlight some familiar and not-so-familiar avocations such as opera, knitting and beekeeping! Admission is reasonable and children six and under get in for free.
