Hello, weekend! If you weren’t sure which weekend to celebrate Independence Day, you’re not alone. There are several events going on around town to make sure you get to have fun and enjoy a few sales in honor of America’s birthday. Keep reading to discover some of the most popular festivals and fairs in the Greater Portland area.
Waterfront Blues Festival – July 3rd – 8th
Just in case you haven’t been lured to the waterfront lately, if you enjoy blues, soul, funk, and r&b, the Waterfront Blues Festival is for you. Come with a blanket or lawn chair, or come prepared to dance the night away. There is something for everyone with performances across 4 stages. There will also be food and other vendors, and special after hours shows beginning at 9:30.
Bead Faire – July 6th – 8th
The Oregon Convention Center does it again! This time, you’ll be dazzled with beads. The Bead Faire is back with more than 70 bead exhibitors and lively demonstrations presented by the Portland Bead society. You’ll be able to enjoy this $7 event all weekend long, and children under the age of 11 are free!
Second Annual Lents Garage Sale – July 7th
When an entire neighborhood hosts an epic garage sale, you may find yourself excited. Hang on to your enthusiasm,head to the Second Annual Lents Garage Sale this Saturday, and come prepared to shop. There will even be a raffle hosting for those who participate in a mini scavenger hunt. If you get a printed sale map and collect a bingo card from any of the participating sales, you’ll be entered into a raffle of amazing prizes once you fill up a line on your bingo card! This event the community non-profit organization, Green Lents.
GEAR Con 2018: The Great War – July 7th & 8th
Head to the University Place Hotel in downtown Portland for GEAR Con! This event is not sure to disappoint steampunk enthusiasts, as it will be the largest gathering in Oregon. Drop by to enjoy a costumes, workshops, and an arts and music festival.
Wayward Winds Lavender U-Pick – July 7th – 31st
Don’t have time to head to the United Kingdom for scenic lavender fields? If not, you can still head to one of the largest u-pick fields in Oregon from 10am – 5pm daily. The Wayward Winds Lavender Fields team will be happy to assist you as you explore and pick lavender for your enjoyment. They’ll even have some things you haven’t tried yet including lavender edibles, beauty products, and award-winning essential oil.
