This post-holiday weekend has a lot of variety!  There’s everything from dancing Dinos and competitive comedy to riding the MAX without pants…a little something for everyone!

Winter Farmers Marcado – January 6th through March

Why wait until the Portland Farmers Market starts up again in the spring?  Support local growers, artisans, and Latino entrepreneurs at the Portland Farmers Mercado starting this weekend on Saturday’s from 10-2 through March.  There are kids activities, live music, food demonstrations, and more!

Comedy Sportz – January 5th-6th

ComedySportz is an all-ages, family-friendly Improv competition that puts two teams against each other for the most laughs & points.  Shows start at 8pm and every show is different, with different players, different games and new suggestions.

Zoo Lights – January 5th-7th

Didn’t get a chance to see the ZooLights because of other holiday plans?  There is still time!  After a break for New Year’s weekend – the lights are running through this weekend from 5-9PM.  The display of over a million and a half lights is a Portland favorite, this weekend allows you to see both the animals and lights without the pre-Christmas crowds.

Dinosaurs! – January 7th

Join The Oregon Symphony as they play music from Jurassic Park while dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus and Velociraptor dance around on stage.  2pm Sunday at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

No Pants Ride – January 7th

Although this seems like a quintessentially Portland thing, its actually a worldwide event, The No Pants Subway Ride.  This annual event staged by Improv Everywhere started in New York City as a small prank with seven guys and now has dozens of cities around the world participating in the celebration of silliness.  Wondering how it works?  Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants, acting as if they don’t know each other and all wearing winter clothing except for pants.  If this sounds funny to you, join from 2-3:30 and ride the MAX downtown, Starting at Skidmore Fountain on Sunday, January 7th.
