Can you believe this is our 2nd weekend in January?  We’re getting a little more daylight and a little more rain, and we are happy to take it all in.  How will you continue to have the best year of your life?  If you’re looking for something fun to do, glance over this weekend rundown and head out to these out of the box events.

 

Winter Formal Friday – January 12th – 26th

If you’re looking for a relaxing evening, this weekend event is for you.  Every Friday night in January, The Duniway is hosting local DJs to curate a chill, downtempo vibe in the library with a selection of soul, jazz and ’50s/’60s music.

 

58th Annual Portland Boat Show – January 10th – 14th

Have you ever been to the Portland boat show?  Here’s your chance to ditch the chilly weather and still have fun.  The 58th Annual Portland Boat Show returns to the Expo Center this January 10-14. It is the biggest boat show in Oregon, where you’ll be a presented with a variety boats to view and buy if you please. When we said “variety”, we weren’t kidding.  There will be fishing boats, ski boats, sailboats, yachts, personal watercraft and paddle sports too. Plus, visit with non-profit clubs, marinas, destination experts and more.

 

Mindfulness Series:Tea & Tarot for New Year’s Intention-Setting – January 13th

Needing some good vibes to carry you through 2018? Coleman Stevenson will lead a mindfulness workshop on ways to use tarot and gentle rituals to set intentions for your new year.  There will also be a bit of aromatherapy.  Stevenson’s experience includes your nose, so there will be small-batch perfumes and fragrant teas from The Jasmine Pearl served during class for students to enjoy. No prior knowledge of tarot or perfumery is needed to attend.

 

NWFC Student Screening – January 13th

Sometimes there’s nothing better than supporting a budding artist display their best work.  The Northwest Film Center’s students created short films in their Fall Term 2017, and everyone is invited to see their work. It’s a free event and there will be a reception to follow the viewing, so if you love everything about film making, grab a buddy and pop in this weekend.

 

Foods By Nature Expo 2018 – January 13th & 14th

Healthy food is here for the win!  This event promises to present you with sources and ideas for healthy living and sustainability. There will be plenty of samples and purchasing opportunities for grass-fed, organic, gluten-free and nutrient-dense foods.  The Expo is also offering entertaining presentations where you’ll be able to learn about the benefits of these food items too!  Expert speakers include Nora Gedgaudas, author of Primal Body, Primal Mind, Sally Fallon Morell author of Nourishing Traditions, Robb Wolf of Paleo Mag, Christina Hildebrand of Voice For Choice and others.  You’ll be supporting a good cause too!  A portion of the Expo proceeds will benefit The Good Neighbor Family Pantry (voted best non-profit in 2015).
