Hello, weekend! The Portland area has been enjoying bright and sunny weather lately. It is uncommon during this time of year, and it is supposed to continue next week. If you would like to get out and soak up some sun, we have wonderful recommendations for you.

Crafty Wonderland – December 8th – 10th

The 3rd annual Crafty Wonderland Holiday Art & Craft Market features over 250 makers selling amazing handmade goods at the Convention Center all weekend long! If you don’t like to shop with a big crowd, grab a ticket for the preview event on Friday, 12/8. Perks include shorter lines, and you’ll get first choice of all the homemade goodies. Crafty Wonderland offers a free event too! Doors open to the public on Saturday, 12/9 or Sunday 12/10 as well. If you do decide to go on Saturday or Sunday, arrive early! The legendary Crafty Wonderland “goodie bags” will be given to the first 150 shoppers in line. There will also be free DIY craft activities on free event days, and kids years old and under are free!

ACLU of Oregon Ugly Sweater Party – December 8th

If you want a fun night with your friends where you’ll get to compete for the ugliest outfit, the ACLU or Oregon Ugly Sweater Party is a must! Admission is free, and the suggested donation of $25 to the ACLU of Oregon through Willamette Week’s Give! It is a perfect way to give back, and you can also use your receipt as a last minute tax write-off. Just to let you know, if you place first in the ugliest sweater contest, you get an amazing gift package. There will also be $25 games where you will be able to win other prizes such as vintage ACLU gear, a pair of Portland Trail Blazers tickets or Portland Winterhawks tickets. Doors open at that Lagunitas Portland Community Room at 9pm.

Soul Pose – December 9th

If you’re into yoga or want to be, wake up bright and early and head to the Portland Expo Center. From the creators of The Color Run comes Soul Pose, an event where you can do your “kind of” yoga at one of the blacklight yoga sessions. There will be body paint, confetti and an opportunity to make new friends. This is a fun, all-level yoga session. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced yogi to someone who has never set foot on a mat, all are welcome. For a $5 discount, use the code: TRAVELPORTLAND.

Nine Free Days – December 9th – 17th

If you’re looking for something free, family friendly, and fun, look no further. If you would like to pay a visit to the Lan Su Chinese Garden, you’ll receive free admission with a donation of two non-perishable food items to benefit the Oregon Food Bank. This is a great deal and a good cause–general admission is regular $10. To see a list of most needed items, click here before you head over.

Beauty and the Beast – December 9th – 24th

Are you a Disney fan? If you are, you’ll be able to join the Beast, Belle, Gaston, Le Fou, Lumiere, and friends as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of this Disney classic. It is a spectacular musical experience the whole family can share and enjoy. Head to the Newmark Theater starting this weekend to enjoy a stage version of the Academy Award-winning animated feature.
