Hello, weekend! Hopefully you survived Oregon’s total eclipse of the state last week! Here’s what we’re excited about for August 26th & 27th with some happenings in Portland and throughout Oregon. This weekend you can root for the Timbers Darby match, cheer on some friends or participate in the Hood to Coast relay, head to Yamhill County for a foodie event or check out Iggy Pop and Beck on the waterfront.
August 24 & 25th – Hood to Coast Relay
Friday is the start of the largest relay race in the world, the Hood to Coast Relay. Where 1,050 teams of 12 runner start off at Timberline Lodge and run 199 miles to Seaside! This race began in 1982 with 8 teams and every year fills the team cap of 26 teams. Good luck to all the racers and be aware of the teams and their support vans if you plan on traveling around Portland or the coast this weekend!
August 24-26th – Bounty of Yamhill County
Celebrate all things Oregon Farm-to-fork with this weekends Bounty of Yamhill County in McMinnville. This three day festival is in its 5th year celebrating culinary adventures that was voted # 2 in USA Today’s Top 10 Best Food Festivals.
August 26th & 27th – MusicfestNW
MusicfestNW is a music festival with 18 acts and food vendors including carts & restaurant pop ups at Tom McCall Waterfront Park for music lovers 21+ and over. The event has acts daily from noon-10pm and headliners include Iggy Pop and Beck.
August 27th – Portland Timbers at Seattle Sounders
The Portland Timbers face their rival to the north, the Seattle Sounders for a Cascadia Cup match. The Thorns won at the Seattle Reign yesterday, can the Timbers follow suit? You can join the bus that takes the Timbers Army up to CenturyLink field or stick here in Portland and show your RCTID at one of the Timbers local viewing establishments.
