2018 Sci-Fi Film Festival – August 23rd – 26th
OMSI’s done it again… They’ve found a unique way to highlight science’s influence and bring their findings to Portland in an entertaining and thought-provoking way. This time, the OMSI Sci-Fi Film Festival is highlighting 18 films that impacted the world . Each film has been cited for the way that the presented a futuristic world that’s influenced by a little innovation and a lot of creativity. Mind you, all films will be showcased on the Empirical Theater’s four-story tall screen.
Festa Italiana – August 23rd – 25th
Festa Italiana is back this weekend! The aroma of Italian food blended with a touch of opera and nonstop entertainment always lures families into Pioneer Courthouse Square. It’s a free event that’s family-friendly and has a couple of contests too. There will be a cannoli eating contest and grape stomp for the adventurous visitors. Will you be one of them?
The Complete Works of Shakespeare – August 25th
Starting in the late afternoon at 4pm, head to Hayden Island for an evening with Shakespearean and classical companies. There will be live music, lawn games, and of course, a theatrical performance. This laid back PG-13 event in the park is perfect for those who want to enjoy an evening in the grass armed with a picnic, blanket and chairs.
SneakerWeek PDX – August 26th – September 1st
SneakerWeek PDX… need we say more? It’s become a tradition where shoe enthusiasts can go to get their footwear fix. There are several local businesses who are here to showcase and sell the best sneakers on the market. Click here for more info.
Fifth Annual Oregon Mermaid Event – August 26th
For the fifth year in a row, Oregon Mermaids have been creating unique and entertainment for children of all ages. This year, you’ll be able to get your face painted, interact with the local mermaids, and join story telling. And this is all for a good cause. The mermaids are happy to share more about their love for the ocean beaches and wildlife, and it’s importance of preserving it on this out-of-the-sea adventure.
