Hello, weekend! Here’s what we’ve got on the list for August 19th & 20th…If you’re not headed south to be ready for the big solar eclipse on Monday, here’s some fun events to keep you busy this weekend including a Sunday Parkways, the Lego expo, a Raptor release, and a Soapbox Derby for adults!
August 18-20 – Miniature Air Show
Watch drones, aerobatic planes, helicopters, warbirds, and even jets perform at the Radio Controlled Air Show in Forest Grove. $8/car or $6 if you bring a food donation for the Oregon Food Bank. $2 of the full price will go as a cash donation for the Oregon Food Bank. Pilots are free! Event highlight? They have a kids candy drop!
August 19th & 20th- BrickFest!
Brick Fest Live is the ultimate LEGO fan experience! It features family activities, amazing exhibits, and vendors or LEGO plastic bricks at the Portland Expo Center.
August 19th – Portland Adult Soapbox Derby
Why should the kids have all the fun. This Saturday from 9:30am-4pm is the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby where folks who build, tinker, face, flaunt, steer & push gather on the slopes of Mt. Tabor to test their meddle.
August 19th – Raptor Release
Durant Vineyards is having its first ever Raptor Release on Saturday from 2-4pm. This is a rare opportunity to see raptors up close and learn about these beautiful birds. The celebration will conclude with the release of their newly rehabilitated great horned owlet over the vineyard.
August 20th – Sunday Parkways
Sunday Parkways goes to Outer Northeast Portland this week! Come check out this year’s completely new route that that begins after Gateway green to introduce you to life in the Outer NE. This 6.4 miles route will take you to Knott, Thompson, East Holladay and Hazelwood Hydro Parks which will all have music, food, and fun finds including the Portland World Cup Soccer Tournament.
