Earth Day is on Sunday, April 22nd, and Oregon is definitely a huge supporter of hosting clean, environmentally friendly communities. This year, you can join SOLVE Oregon to help clean up Sauvie Island so that the beach will be restored just in time for the big day! This will be a self directed clean up where you’ll be able to restore the beach to mint condition, all while enjoying the beautiful view. Bags, cloves and safety information will be provided. The organization suggest for you to dress warm and to bring a water bottle. All are welcome to clean, but for volunteers from ages 13-17 years old will need parental permission to attend alone. One more thing! Parking passes will certainly be provided.
Earth Day Spring Festival – April 21st
Sometimes Earth Day is honored by cleaning up our communities and planting trees, and sometimes it’s honored by learning more about the land we live on. This year, you’ll be able to celebrate Oregon’s growing season. You’ll also be able to learn all about the fun that happens at the Learning Gardens Laboratory. The Earth Day Spring Festival is kicking things up a notch this year too. Stop by to participate in a blood drive, enjoy free food, live music, a plant sale, garden tours, kid friendly games and crafts, and more!
