Hello, New Year! Say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018. Portland will be jammed pack with fun year-end events for residents and visitors to enjoy. Stay safe this weekend! Portland got it’s first bit of snow (and ice) over the Christmas holiday, so if you’re traveling on the roads, be safe and bundle up.
NYE Vegan Hor D’oeurves Class with Sophia Worgan – December 29th
Just in case you want to start you weekend early, the fun is here on Friday! Join resident chef Sophia Worgan at Bob’s Red Mill Cooking School on the cusp of New Year’s Eve! You can bring a buddy or just sit back and enjoy the show. Sophia will be making some fan-favorite appetizers with a vegan twist, so come hungry! Featured recipes will include spinach and artichoke dip, a mushroom and walnut pâte and Korean barbecue fresh rolls.
Winter Farmers Market at Portland Mercado – December 30th – March 24th
Here’s another event for the foodies and the shoppers. Starting this Saturday, December 30th, you’ll be able to shop local and support budding Latino entrepreneurs. It’s called the Portland Farmers Market Mercado, so if you want to enjoy this Latin infused atmosphere, head to Southeast Portland. This fun weekend event is featuring live music, kid’s activities and cooking demonstrations.
2017 NARA New Years Eve Sobriety Powwow – December 31st
We love to talk about out of the box events to enjoy over the weekend, and this one is no different. Portland’s 32nd Annual NARA New Years Eve Sobriety Powwow is this weekend at the Oregon Convention. Itis one of the largest sobriety new year powwows in the country, and can be life changing. Loud in the Library: 2017 New Year’s Eve Party – December 31st
Want to countdown the last seconds of 2017 at the library? If spending your evening celebrating at the library is on your bucket list, here’s your chance to make it happen. You’ll be able to dance, play games, enjoy food from Uptown Market, and enjoy a midnight balloon drop in the library’s grand staircase. You’ll also be supporting a good cause– all proceeds benefit the Beaverton Library Foundation.
New Year’s Eve Chocolate Buffet Extravaganza – December 31st
Here’s one last NYE event, and it’s a good one. This weekend, you’ll be able to indulge in a free chocolate buffet at midnight! If there’s chocolate in it, chances are it will be here and ready to be devoured. This is a first come, first served event… Translation: Get there early!
