Hello, Easter Weekend! With Portland Dining Month coming to a close and April starting to begin, there’s a lot of fun happening in the Portland Metro area. It’s also spring break for most primary schools in Oregon, so we decided to share extra events. The more the merrier, and with a fun holiday weekend ahead, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whale Watching Week – March 28th – 31st
There are grey whales that migrate past the Oregon Coast each year, and 2018 is no different. In Oregon, the Whale Watching Spoken Here® program strategically places volunteers at popular whale watching sites. Why? Volunteers want to make sure visitors to miss out on the action. The volunteers are trained, and several come back each year to make sure that all 24 sites in the Pacific Northwest are accounted for. You don’t have to be a whale expert to come participate, just bring visual aiding devices and your sense of curiosity along to witness these rare marine animals travel across the sea.
Portland Dining Month – March 28th – 31st
We’ve mentioned Portland Dining Month before, and we couldn’t resist giving you a friendly nudge about it before the month ends. You can literally eat your way through Portland’s foodie destinations, all while donating to a good cause. If you make a reseveration on Open Table, a portion will be donated to the Oregon Food Bank. Your reservation comes with the option to enjoy 3 courses for $33, or enjoy your favorite treats from the traditional menu,
Restoration Hardware’s Gallery Store Grand Opening Ceremony – March 30th
Panoramic views of the West Hills, Fremont Bridge and Downtown Portland? Yes, please! If you live in the Portland area or found yourself enjoying the shops and restaurants on 23rd, you know how big of an effort is has been to build Portland’s new Restoration Hardware (RH) store. RH’s grand opening is on Friday, March 30th at 11am, and the promise you a first-of-it’s-kind retail experience. If you want to check out the 6,300 square foot rooftop garden and browse their new gallery space, stop by!
Luxe Bridal Event & Couture Fashion Parade – March 30th
Discriminating brides of Portland, this event is for you. If you care for exhibits filled with all your pinterest-inspired wedding fantasies, the vendors at the Luxe Bridal Event & Couture Fashion Parade are sure to please no matter what you budget size is. There will be reputable mom and pop boutiques right along side with exclusive industry veterans. The event promises an experience where you can stroll around to the beats of a live DJ in a modern lounge-like spaces. Grab your bridal party or your groom and be prepared to walk away with options that will make your wedding day a magical one. There will even be VIP Swag Bags!
Poetry and Pancakes Live – March 30th
This is an easy one, the title speaks for itself! The event hosts are hosting an open-mic competition for those who have a voice they want to share with others. Want to be in the audience instead? You’re in luck! The audience gets to choose who wins the $200 first place prize, and pancakes will be served all night long.
Rabbit Romp at the Oregon Zoo – March 31st
The Oregon Zoo is always a fun treat, and this time, the Easter Bunny is involved for their annual Rabbit Romp. There will be multiple egg hunts throughout the day, so if you have any children in your life age 10 and under, have them bring an easter basked for all the fun. The Oregon Zoo is also proud to hide “Eco Eggs” for the children in your life to find. They are bio-degradable and, of course, filled with yummy treats and fun prizes. You’ll also get to enjoy the rest of the zoo after you finish hunting. That’s where you will find bunny-themed craft stations and photo opportunities.
Hippity Hop Bunny Hop Through the Pearl – March 31st
The Easter Bunny is visiting the Pearl District this weekend! There will be plenty of smiles to be shared, treats to enjoy and photos to be taken at the Hippity Hop Bunny Hop. The event starts at Jamison Square Park, and the whole family can collect stamps at each location to win raffle prizes.
2018 Rose City Salsa & Timba Festival – March 29th – April 1st
Break out your dancing shoes if you want to enjoy Portland’s City Salsa, Bachata, and Timba festival. It doesn’t matter if you want to dance to the DJ’s, learn at a beginner bootcamp, or move around at the kids workshop. There will be plenty of vendors, over 20 instructors, and 7 DJ’s. Wepa!
Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza – April 1st
This is probably the easiest egg hunt ever! Pix Patisserie is giving out 50 eggs to the first visitors who inquire. Each one will contain a golden ticket for up to $50 in awesome Pix Treats! This is a first come, first served event. One egg is available per person. Our advice? Come with a large group to increase your chances of winning something. Good luck!
