Staff Tidbits – Summer Fun 2019

Summer 2019 has been amazing (so far) for The Reynolds Defense Firm team!  We believe in taking time to experience and enjoy new things.  That way, we can show up as our best selves during the work week.

Here’s what our team has been up to this summer:

Our Director of Operations, Nic, traveled to Thailand (& Japan) with his wife, Rose.  His adventures included a hanging out with elephants and tigers, checking out a multitude of temples and soaking up the culture in a new place.

Liz got to experience the Timbers first win (EVER!) against the Seattle Sounders in Century Link Field with the Timbers Army – Go Timbers!

Mark is in a 30+ Adult baseball league, trying to recapture the semi-glory days of his youth. It is a great fit for him, as most of the guys in the league are in their 30’s and 40’s, and are all braving the muscle pulls, sprains, tweaks, and smell of Ben-Gay 🙂 Astonishingly enough…the most in shape guys on his team are aged 52, and 58. #Goals!!!!

Erin has been canoeing and camping her way through the islands in the Multnomah Channel.  She has kayaked over 28 miles this summer (so far)!

Dan & Tammy recently got back from a week of hiking in Central Oregon where they broke in their new camper, hiked 30 miles and Dan caught a fish at 6,500′!

Michelle has been enjoying spending weekends at the coast chasing waterfalls and camping in a covered wagon working on her growing fire making skills.

Destiny recently won a costume contest at NW Film Center’s Rooftop Cinema showing of Wayne’s World – where she was a spitting mage of Garth’s girlfriend Stacy!

We’ve also had some RDF-ers children doing some pretty amazing things this summer:

Doug‘s son went on Japanese language program and lived with host family and studied Japanese in Fukuoka for a month.

Ami’s son traveled to 7 different countries in 16 days with a choir group called Oregon Ambassadors of Music to 7 different countries in 16 days.  He visited the UK, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Germany, and Lichenstein. They performed in the Windsor Castle and St. Marks Cathedral and got to see Wicked in London!

RDF’s Opt Outdoors Contest is still a big hit!  Our team has collectively spent 45 nights sleeping “under the stars” –  Dan & Tammy are leading right now with 9 nights & we have collectively hiked 336 miles over 87 hikes!!  For those keeping track, that beats last year’s total of 84 hike with a month still left to go!  You can see the rest of the team in the great outdoors by following us on Facebook and Instagram.  Look for our hashtag #OptOutdoorsWithRDF and share some of your own adventures!
