Summer never seems long enough, does it? Time really does fly when you’re having fun, and this summer, the RDF team had a blast! We enjoyed a little friendly competition during our 2nd Annual Opt Outdoors Contest! But truly, with all the benefits that come with spending time outside, everyone is a winner.
The contest ran from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend – three months of connecting with nature and exploring all of the outdoor perks that Oregon has to offer. As a team, we collectively hiked 441 miles and spent 68 nights camping. We’re proud to say that we beat last year’s number of nights under the stars by 13 nights! Nice work team! Of course, what would a contest be without crowning individual victors? So, without further ado:
1st Place – Michelle with 16 hikes (over 64.7 miles)
2nd Place – Sarah with 12 hikes (over 39.6 miles)
3rd Place – Liz with 11 hikes (over 48.3 miles)
1st Place – Erin with 10 nights
2nd Place (ties) – Destiny & Sarah with 6 nights
The rest of the RDF team members also received some pretty amusing awards (as you can see).
We all had a great time, and some of us are already making plans for next years contest! Even as we get into the cooler months, there are still plenty of opportunities to venture into nature. One of the great things about the Pacific Northwest is that there’s never a shortage of things to do outdoors. Where will you go next?
