The Reynolds Family recently went to Belize on a spring break trip. We stayed on a small (1-mile-long) island off of the mainland. We have experienced “island time” in the past, but Belize took it to a whole new level! We’re not sure if it was due to the lack of paved roads and cars on the island or just the laid-back attitude of its inhabitants, but we fully embraced this concept.
The most surprising thing was the more we slowed down, the more time we seemed to have in our days! Our days felt like we had three days’ worth of time in them simply because we weren’t trying to manipulate time to get more out of it. Is that the secret to more time? Slow down? Seems counter intuitive to how we operate in our “normal” life.
But what if we tried it? What if instead of getting impatient or frustrated with getting stuck in traffic or in a long line at the grocery store, we just accepted it could we gain time? I’m not sure if this was special island time, but I’m willing to try it just to see …
