September 13th – 15th – Rose City Comic-Con
While comic books and cosplay are the cornerstone of Comic-Con, the event encompasses nearly every nook and cranny of pop-culture. Rose City Comic-Con is the perfect place to spend your weekend if you’re a movie buff, a self-proclaimed sci-fi nerd, an anime addict, a fantasy fan, or you simply enjoy playing dress-up! This event is all about having fun with all that pop-culture has to offer, be it books, music, or television shows. Get a sneak peak of 2020’s blockbuster film lineup, collect limited edition merch, or just go to check out fabulous cosplays for some pre-Halloween inspiration.
September 14th – 15th – Retro Gaming Convention
Nestled inside of the Rose City Comic-Con is a convention all its own that celebrates something that has brought a smile to many a young face for over 40 years. We are talking about games! Games of all kinds! At Portland’s Retro Gaming Convention, you will find a massive collection of arcade, pinball, and console games. Step into an atmosphere of yesteryear with tons of coin operated games and a DJ spinning 80’s classics. You can fly solo and zone in on your favorites, or bond with fellow attendees over multi-player games. Whether you’re a pinball wizard or a frogger fanatic, or prefer something a bit more modern, you’re going to have a blast at the Retro Gaming Convention!
September 15th – Portland Pilots vs Seattle Redhawks
Portland and Seattle are often referred to as sister cities. If you grew up with sisters, you know that they can be the most supportive, caring friends and the greatest rivals simultaneously. This Sunday afternoon witness a game that illustrates Portland and Seattle’s sisterly bond at its finest. The Portland Pilots women’s soccer team face off against Seattle University’s Redhawks this weekend. These young athletes will blow your mind with their passion, teamwork, and competitive edge! If you love the enthusiasm and grit of college sports, you won’t want to miss this game.
September 13th – Whodunnit Skate
Our groovy local roller rink, Oaks Park, has a spooky special for us just in time for Friday the 13th. The Whodunnit Skate will be like a live-action, interactive game of Clue… on skates! The mystery is yours to solve. So, whodunnit? Was it Miss Norma in the skate shop with the skate lace? Maybe it was DJ David in the beginner area with a wrench. A prize will be awarded to the best detective!
