With all of our highly anticipated events being postponed or cancelled, and as we are encouraged to stay inside, for some of us, cabin fever may already be kicking in full swing. But who says that you can’t have fun at home? We assure you that you can! And, to help you do just that, this week we are sharing some ideas of creative activities that will help make the most out of your housebound weekend.
See what’s cook’n!
Make a great YouTube recipe a reality and create a meal to be proud of. It’s a good idea to stock up on pasta, rice, canned vegetables, and spices so that more recipes are within reach. Or, put together the most attractive charcuterie board possible, using only the foods you already have in your fridge and cupboard.
Learn something new!
All of us have at least one thing that we’ve always wanted to learn if we only had the time. Maybe its another language, maybe its painting, juggling, or hip-hop dancing. Download Duolingo, or a similar app, and teach yourself a foreign language. Or, find yourself a YouTube video online for lessons on almost anything! Maybe now is the time to learn a cool ‘party trick’ to impress your loved ones the next time you meet up.
Start a book or film club!
Get a few friends from different households on board and finally read some of those old classics you’ve always been interested in. Maybe watch the films that won Oscars for best picture, films that won Independent Spirit Awards for best picture, or the films that critics say should have won those aforementioned awards. Then, schedule conference calls or Skype sessions with your friends, enjoy a cup of coffee and share what you all thought about them.
Picnic!
Okay, so these suggestions are supposed to be things to do inside. But why not make it a point to get outside while the weather is still nice this weekend? Make some simple sandwiches, snacks and drive to your favorite park or a trail you’ve always wanted try out. Spend some time soaking in the sun, have enthralling conversations with your close loved ones and really take in as much nature as you can.
Check back every week for more fun suggestions of things to help keep you happy, healthy and active while your stuck indoors.
