Father’s Day weekend is almost here, and as always, we encourage you to get outside! We can’t think of a better gift for dear ol’ Dad than a healthy dose of vitamin D. There is no shortage of fantastic outdoor activities this weekend, so get out there and have some family fun!
June 15th – 16th – Pride Northwest
Spring and Summer offer so many colorful events—but nothing represents every hue of the rainbow quite like Pride Northwest. Portland has been a cultural hub for the LGBTQ+ community for several decades, making Pride Northwest one of the largest Pride celebrations on the west coast! Members of the LGBTQ+ community, their loved ones and allies, will fill Portland’s downtown area with joyous entertainment and celebration this weekend. Come show your support, dance with your friends, enjoy the parade, and catch a fabulous drag performance. You can’t help but have a ball at an iconic event like this!
June 14th – 16th – Delta Park Powwow
As residents of the Pacific Northwest, we are fortunate to have access to some of the most stunning, verdant landscapes in the nation. For its obvious beauty and calming effect on the mind, but even more so because it provides us with a glimpse into the history of this land. Before bridges were built, before settlers settled, these magnanimous forests and mountain ranges belonged to the Chinook, the Clatskanie, the Molalla, and many other Native American tribes. At the 49th annual Delta Park Powwow, you can witness and participate in the cultures of these incredible tribes. This event is intertribal, meaning there will be several tribes represented. Enjoy dance exhibitions, crafts, delicious fry bread, and more! There is no better way to honor the land that we call home than to honor and celebrate the people who have been here since the beginning of time.
June 16th – Bend Elks vs Portland Pickles
Peanuts, cracker jacks, Elks and Pickles. Who doesn’t want to spend a summer evening at the ballgame? Two of Oregon’s minor league baseball teams will take over Walker Stadium this Sunday for America’s favorite pastime. In this corner of the country, some pretty major things have been underway in the world of baseball; and by major, we mean major league. The Portland Diamond Project is an organization that has begun a movement to bring major league baseball to Portland. By supporting minor league games, you can help to make Portland Diamond Project’s efforts a reality! To thank you for your support, the first 500 fans to enter the stadium will receive a Portland Diamond Project x Portland Pickles collaborative t-shirt.
June 15th – 16th – Oregon Renaissance Faire
Ahoy matey! Step into a fantasy time warp at the Oregon Renaissance Faire! The chosen theme for Father’s Day weekend is Pirate Invasion. Whether your favorite father is a landlubber or a seadog, this playful outdoor event will be sure to put some wind in his sails. Dust off your tricorne hat and buckle up your boots, because a sunny weekend of sea shanties and giant turkey legs awaits you at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds. There will be live music, renaissance era comedy performances, and artisan vendors to set the mood. This is a family friendly event with swashbuckling shenanigans for all ages!
