At RDF, we believe that making connections is one of the most important parts of life. It will be yet another beautiful July weekend; the sun is shining and so are you! We have selected four events where you can connect with people who share your interests and passions. We encourage you to get out there and make a new friend this weekend.
July 26th – 28th – Wizarding Weekend
If you have been living with the disappointment of not being summoned to Hogwarts by a mystical owl on your 11th birthday, we have excellent news: The Wizarding Weekend at Kennedy School is only a couple of days away. In celebration of Harry Potter’s birthday, Kennedy School will transform itself into a Pacific Northwest take on the best wizarding school in the world. They will be screening all 8 Harry Potter films, with trivia, scavenger hunts, and costume contests in between. Dust off your wand and put on your favorite wizarding cloak (though we suggest wearing shorts underneath, Diagon Alley is gorgeous this time of year) and we’ll see you there!
July 27th – 28th – Rip City 3-on-3 Tournament
Come by the annual Rip City 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and get a free ticket to a Trail Blazers preseason game! At the Rose Quarter Campus this weekend, the tournament will feature divisions for all ages, abilities and skill levels. Contests include a 3-point shootout as well as a slam dunk contest and a skills challenge for kids and teens. There will be workshops available to help you improve your skills at any level, and educational talks for parents on how to support the aspiring sports stars in their lives. This is a great way for families full of basketball fans to connect with each other, and an even better way to have some fun!
July 26th – 28th – Art in the Dark
When the sun sets over West Linn this Friday night, an incredible, multifaceted performance will begin. Organized, produced, and performed by the A-WOL Dance Collective, Art in the Dark includes some of the most talented performers in the greater Portland area. Modern dance meets aerial silks, lyra, and other circus style acrobatics, with a live musician accompanies the performers. A-WOL Dance Collective is passionate about creating an inclusive community with their performers, volunteers, and audience. So, come for the show, or come for the crowd; if you’re looking for a unique artistic experience, this event will do the trick.
July 27th – Timbers vs. LA Galaxy
Everybody loves an evening at the park – especially when it’s Providence Park! Follow the green and gold garb into our city’s favorite enchanted arena to watch the Timbers take on their southern California adversaries, the LA Galaxy. If you don’t run into any friends while you’re here, you’re likely to make one in the stands… as long as you’re rooting for the right team!
