January 25th – Fix It Fair
The objective of this event is to create a self-sufficient society while creating connections between individual community members. At the Fix It Fair, you will learn to save money on utilities, make important household updates, grow your own food, and minimize your carbon footprint – yourself! Think about the neighborhood you live in – there are people inside all those homes! People with their own interests and life experiences. People who can teach us a thing or two! January 24th – 26th – Portland Comic Con
Portland’s Comic Con is here! Brought to us by Wizard Entertainment is Wizard World, where the very best in pop culture is at your fingertips. If you’re interested in movies, comics, television, superheroes, gaming, anime, cosplay, horror, sci fi, pro wrestling, or art – you’re going to love this! Get first dibs on the latest action, and a sneak peak into what’s coming in 2020! This is a three-day event with TONS to see! Go for a day, or for the whole weekend, and make sure you’re ready for a photo op!
January 24th – 25th – Motorcycle Film Festival
The Hollywood Theater hosts some incredible niche film festivals, and this weekend is no different. See the world from the back of a Harley at the PDX Motorcycle Film Festival! Motorcycles maintain a certain “cool factor” in pretty much every culture, and this event showcases moto-centric films from all over the world! The judges for this festival include experts in motorcycles, journalism, and film. We can’t wait to witness the magic at the PDX Motorcycle Film Festival!
January 25th – February 9th – Chinese New Year
Lan Su’s two-week New Year celebration begins this weekend! With one of the most joyous and colorful events around, we welcome the Year of the Rat. Check out traditional lion dances, martial arts demonstrations, and other cultural performances! Family-friendly craft activities and calligraphy classes will be available too. Not to mention LOTS of delicious food! Saturday is the opening day, and all guests will leave with a traditional new years gift of Hong Bao.
January 25th – 26th – Train Show
Nothing shouts yesteryear like an old fashioned model train. If you’re looking for a family friendly dose of nostalgia, you’re going to love the Great Train Show! This event is a massive tour of model trains where you will discover everything from early wooden train sets to colorful Lego train displays! There will be plenty of collectibles for sale, so you can take the fun home with you. The entire event is interactive, which means endless entertainment! All ages are welcome, and kids get in for free!
