This weekend is all about the arts. And what place comes to mind when you think of “the arts” more so than New York? That’s right – you can take a trip to New York this weekend without leaving your living room! Sure, it might not be as exciting as experiencing “the Big Apple” in person, but it’s definitely less expensive!

February 6th – “Go” to the Opera! ($20)

If watching a dazzling performance at New York’s Metropolitan Opera has always been on your bucket list, now is your chance to check that one off! The Met continues its immensely popular rollout of popular performances, viewable from home. This weekend, watch Anna Netrebko live in concert. No artist has provided more can’t-miss moments in recent Met memory. Megastar soprano, Anna, promises to add another one with this live performance from Vienna’s historic Spanish Riding School, accompanied by pianist Pavel Nebolsin. Buy your ticket today!

February 5-7th – Visit the Met…with a twist (FREE)

New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met) has just launched an interactive virtual art exhibition featuring augmented-reality versions of some of the world’s most iconic artworks. ‘Visitors’ will first be treated to an intricately detailed rendering of the Met’s Great Hall and will then be able to admire works including Jackson Pollock’s ‘Autumn Rhythm’, Margareta Haverman’s ‘A Vase of Flowers’ and Vincent van Gogh’s ‘A Wheatfield with Cypresses’. Admire a dozen one-of-a-kind, digitally rendered galleries and almost 50 works of art from across the museum’s collection. At a time when access to one of the world’s greatest art collections is limited, this experience brings a creatively re-imagined Met experience to people wherever they are. Check it out here.

February 5-7th – Film Festival (FREE)

Join in as a bunch of very clued-up and cool movie buffs are celebrating films they’re absolutely obsessed with. ‘A Film I Love…’ is part of the digital version of Cambridge Film Festival and includes talks and screenings of the likes of films like Whiplash and Time. The event is free, but donations are recommended. Ge your tickets here.
