August 17th – Portland Thorns vs Washington Spirit
This Saturday, the Portland Thorns continue to three game home stand with an evening match against the Washington Spirit. As goalkeeper Adrianna Franch says, “it’s like a championship game every time we play”. These incredible athletes may not be fighting for the cup this weekend, but the passion, talent and enthusiasm these women bring will have us rooting like the championship is on the line!
August 17th – Adult Soapbox Derby
There are so many family films whose storylines climax at a soapbox derby race. There’s something about the hand-built cars, DIY outfits, and cheering neighbors that stir up nostalgia in so many of us. This weekend, your childhood fantasies can become a reality at the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby! It’s that time of year when a brave group of racers convene on the daunting slopes of our beloved volcano, Mt. Tabor. The event is free, volunteer based, and family friendly!
August 17th – 18th – Hot Sauce Expo
Ready to spice things up? The Portland Hot Sauce Expo will showcase the best hot sauce companies from coast to coast – ocean to ocean. This is an all-star lineup. If you love hot sauce as much as we do, then this is true heaven. Portland Hot Sauce Expo event will showcase products like BBQ sauce, condiments, mustard, marinades, spices, salsas, specialty items, and of course, hot sauce. If you really want to savor the spice, enter one of the many contests to prove your passion for the pepper!
August 17th – Oregon Bigfoot Festival
If you’ve never spotted Bigfoot, this weekend may be your chance! At Glenn Otto Park this Saturday, Bigfoot enthusiasts and researchers will gather for the Oregon Bigfoot Festival. This festival combines education, folklore, and a whole lot of fun! Check out informative exhibits and chat with experts like Finding Bigfoot television hosts, Cliff Barackman and James “Bobo” Fay. If the real Bigfoot doesn’t make an appearance, you can always take a selfie with a professional Bigfoot impersonator!
