We are so lucky to live in Portland! Our cutting-edge ideas met with our adoration for all things historical create a unique culture, full of creation and community. This weekend, you’ll have front row access to the fruits of our city’s creative labor, and education on the history that got us here! Take a tour, see a show, rev your engines, and treat yourself! There are so many reasons to enjoy yourself this weekend!
April 12th – 13th – Portland Night Market
As a locally owned business, we love to celebrate and support all things Portland. Since you likely feel the same way, there is definitely something for you at the Portland Night Market. You’re bound to have a great time with your family or friends, but this is a wonderful event for a self-care solo date, too. Want to try something new? Experience a creative take on the quesadilla at Killa Dilla! Looking for a kick? Take home some Hot Mama Salsa to give your Sunday meal prep a south-of-the-border spice! Finish off your snack-n-stroll with Pennsylvania Dutch desserts at Shoofly Bakery. Lastly, commemorate your evening with a trip to Flashback Photo‘s awesome interactive booth! If you’re not feeling quite photo ready, the folks at Happy Handmade Apothecary and Spela Cosmetics will have you ready for your closeup in no time.
April 12th – 13th – Nā Haumāna O Hawai‘i
The mission of this traditional Hawaiian Luau is to promote and radiate the spirit of Aloha and preserve the unique cultural heritage of the Hawaiian islands. This weekend is Pacific University’s 59th annual Nā Haumāna O Hawai‘i, the largest student-run Luau on the West coast. This event is truly beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, that tickets are selling fast! The student production team have done something special for us this year by making the dress rehearsal open to the public! This special invitation will allow you to see the whole show as it would appear on stage, and a glimpse into the hard work and passion of the performers and production team between performances.
April 12th – A Nod to Mod
This groovy expression of European moto culture will feel like stepping into a 1960’s art show. A Nod to Mod is a moto-themed fashion show brings together unique and functional apparel & accessory design with a passion for timeless Italian scooters and the culture surrounding them. Local design house, Portland Apparel Lab, has teamed up with Vespa Portland to create an unforgettable experience for modern-minded Portlanders and vintage-fanatics alike.
April 13th – 15th – Old House Revival Tour
Before we moved into our office space, RDF was located in an old house in Southwest Portland, so the Old House Revival Tour is right up our ally! Hosted by the Architectural Heritage Center, this tour highlights historic homes that have been remodeled to suit modern life. You can walk through rooms in which old building materials have been preserved and spaces once lost to misguided remodels have been restored. You will also notice modern upgrades that don’t upset the original aesthetic. Most important, the enhancements make it easier and more energy efficient for people to live in their home. We love this celebration of the past and the present!
