Happy New Year! This weekend we roll into 2022, and in true Portland fashion there’s never a shortage of things to do!  Venture out or stay at home. Grab a friend or go alone.  You can dance, you can cheer, you can choose to relax or scream and shout. Whatever you do, be grateful for a new year of opportunities, that’s what its all about.

Silverton Christmas Market – December 31st- January 2nd

The Silverton Christmas Market presented by Power Kia is an awe-inspiring light display and market at the Oregon Garden Resort! Stroll along immersive paths draped in more than one million lights. Explore the authentic German Christmas Market for gifts from artisan vendors. Enjoy music and cozy up to a wood-burning fire pit or take a ride down the snowless tubing hill. This is a magical event the whole family can enjoy! Buy your tickets here.

NARA New Years Eve Sobriety Powwow – December 31st

We love to talk about out of the box events to enjoy over the weekend, and this one is no different.  The Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest presents the Annual Sobriety Powwow this weekend. It is one of the largest sobriety new year powwows in the country, and can be life changing.  There will be thousands of Native Americans and others to close out the year with drums, songs, and dance! This event will be virtual this year, so please visit the event website for current information.

Winter walks against a beautiful Winter back drop – Anytime!

Need to get the blood pumping and walk off some of those (delicious) Christmas Cookies? Grab a coat and take a stroll through one of the city’s many walkable parks. Not everybody wants to try hiking up a mountain in the middle of winter. Luckily, Portland offers plenty of ways to stretch your legs without crampons or ice axes — or even muddied boots. Bundle up and take one of these winter walks, then warm up with a cozy cup of coffee or tea.
