Traditionally, Labor Day weekend is seen as the final weekend of the summer. With so many fantastic family events coming up, we don’t see any reason for the summer fun to end! Flowers, fine art, puppy love, and world music; you can have it all this weekend!
August 31st – September 2nd – Art in the Pearl
Art in the Pearl has invited us to explore their annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. Portland loves its outdoor art festival, but this one is of a very special caliber. Over one hundred artists show and sell work ranging from fine wooden furniture to beautiful paintings to photography, glass, clay, metal, jewelry, and so much more. While strolling the aisles of amazing creative work, you will come across live theater, original live music, and hands-on art activities so you yourself can express your inner Picasso!
August 31st – September 2nd – Dahlia Festival
It’s the final weekend of this fun floral festival! Whether dahlias are your favorite, or you just enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer, the Dahlia Festival is worth checking out! With the end of summer only a few weeks away, this would be a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the season. Enjoy a stroll through almost 40 acres of dahlias in full bloom during the festival. Cut flowers are available for those who would like to bring the beauty of the dahlia fields home with them. Pack a picnic to enjoy among the blooms or grab a bite from one of the many food vendors on site!
August 31st – Arab Festival
Head over to Oaks Park this Saturday for an event that offers education, live entertainment, and a whole lot of family fun! The folks at Arab Cultural Center of Oregon will host the 9th Annual Arab Festival this weekend. Stroll through the bazaar for unique handmade goods or treat yourself to a delicious Middle Eastern meal. You’ll enjoy watching belly dancers perform, as well as musicians like Raid Alasmar. The kids will love the carnival games and face painting, and the whole family can get traditional henna tattoos to celebrate the end of a beautiful summer.
September 1st – Pop-up Dog Park and Doggie Paddle
Are you ready for a puppy picnic? Raleigh Park will transform into an off-leash dog park Saturday afternoon! Bring your pooch and some pals and enjoy the company of fellow dog lovers in the park district! During this pop-up event, dogs will be allowed off leash while at our specially crafted dog park. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and anything else you need to keep yourself and your pooch cool and comfortable. All well-behaved citizens are welcome at the Pop-up Dog Park, two-legged or four-legged.
