That’s right ghosts and ghouls, Halloween weekend has finally arrived! And it looks like the spirits are on our side, because we can expect clear skies this weekend while we take in all the spooky fun! So get out your candy, costumes, and….garlic? This week we’re highlighting all the creepiest and coolest activities happening around town to entertain all you scare-seeking witches and warlocks.
October 29th-31st: Howloween
The Oregon Zoo celebrates spooky season with Howloween. The zoo provides a fun and safe setting for this Halloween tradition, where costumed kids learn about healthy habitats for wildlife in a fun scavenger hunt throughout the zoo. Treat bags are available at the end of the scavenger hunt for an additional fee!
October 29th-31st: Museum of Mystery!
The beloved and prolific Portland visual artist Mike Bennett took over an old bank building and filled it with 26 “life-size Cryptids, Monsters and Mythical Beasts” that he’s dubbed the Crypto-Zoo: Museum of Mystery. Families will delight in this immersive walk-through exhibit, where you can play games, win prizes, pose for photos with the creatures and maybe even meet some surprise guests.
October 29th-31st: Fair Share or Scares!
Clackamas County Fairgrounds and Oaks Amusement Park are both offering horrifyingly haunted walk-through attractions for you to experience, ranging from terrifying to family friendly. Go survive the night and take in the haunted history of the Willamette River Valley and one of the oldest amusement parks in the country!
October 29th-31st: Stick with the Classics
A favorite Halloween-time tradition in Portland is heading to one of the area’s many pumpkin patches, each packed with enormous, orange pumpkins and tons of family-friendly activities (think petting zoos, live music, shopping, food and drinks). Enjoy hayrides, corn mazes (both haunted and not) and apple cider galore.
Check back every Thursday as we continue to guide you through the weekends with options for outdoor activities, art projects, personal growth opportunities, and so much more!
