This weekend in Portland is going to be filled with numerous activities for all different tastes. There will of course be a Veteran Day Parade as well as a Sci-fi/fantasy writing convention and a holiday festival to help get you into the festive mood! Portland Veterans Day Parade: Nov. 11th
The Portland Veterans Day Parade is a family friendly event that has been happening every year in Portland since 1974. The parade will begin at 10AM and the route will start from NE MLK & Beech and ending at 5305 NE MLK. There will be a closing ceremony at the end that will include speakers and music. OryCon: Nov. 10th-12th
Calling all Sci-fi and Fantasy nerds! OryCon (Oregon Convention for Creators) has been celebrating all things fantasy and sci-fi since 1979! Some of the panelists include Chuck Lukacs (illustrator for Magic: The Gathering cards and D&D), Janny Wurts (author of The Wars of Light and Shadow), and many more! The con will be held at The Holiday Inn Portland – Columbia Riverfront hotel at 909 N Hayden Island Dr. Portland, OR 97217
Holiday Food and Gift Festival: Nov. 10th-12th
This festival is one of the largest holiday festivals in the PNW. They showcase many artists, jewelers, toy makers, craft food vendors, and much, much more. It’s the perfect place to do all your holiday shopping and get it done early! It’s located at the Westside Commons Event Center, 801 NE 34th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124. There is an admissions fee of $8.00 for adults–but your ticket is good for all three days and children can enter free. Just remember that if you buy admission at the door, you will need cash. They are open 10AM-6PM Friday-Saturday, and 10AM-4PM on Sunday.
