This past week has seen a wintery weather mix throughout Oregon that has left many stranded in their houses without power. But as the ice begins to melt, power gets restored, and normalcy sets back in, we know most of us are just about done with being cooped up inside! The best cure for cabin fever is, of course, to get out of the house and stay out as much as possible this weekend. Below are a few activity ideas for all you fine folk in Yamhill County. This week we have highlighted the towns of: Newberg and McMinnville, Oregon.

Movies at the Historic Cameo Theatre: January 19th – 22nd

While the historic 99W Drive-in theatre may be closed for the season, the indoor Cameo Theatre next door is open for business. This weekend, they have showings of the new Mean Girls movie through Monday. Prices are much more reasonable than the big-box movie theaters, ranging from $5.00 matinees to $7.00 evening shows. This great local theater and drive-in has been family owned since 1953 and is the perfect place to go for a mid-winter activity that will get you out of our house! Located at: 304 S 1st Street, Newberg, OR 97132.

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum: January 19th – 21st

The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is the perfect place for space and aviation enthusiasts alike. They host a variety of exhibits, events, and educational experiences for all ages. While you can spend hours picking through all the history they have to offer, they also have exhibits and tours that last around 20 minutes! You can sign up for a tour of The Spruce Goose (their crown jewel and behemoth of an airplane) or do a self-guided walk-around of the newly added F-86 Sabre (a Korean War era plane). They even have a flight simulator! Admission prices vary from $12 youth to $22 adult tickets. They are open daily from 9AM – 5PM but check their website to make sure there aren’t delayed openings due to the lingering winter weather. They are located at: 500 NE Captain Michael King Smith Way, McMinnville, OR 97128.

Almost, Maine: January 12th – 21st

Almost, Maine is a play about a town that is so far north it’s almost Canada and centers around nine couples all in different stages of falling in and out of love. The production is being hosted by the Chehalem Cultural Center and this weekend is the last weekend to see it. Tickets range from $15-$18 and can be purchased online. The theater is located at: 415 East Sheridan St, Newberg OR 97132.
