For this week’s Hello Weekend, we are focusing on alcohol-alternative events in the Multnomah County region. Specifically, we have compiled activities in Portland and Troutdale.
Portland Winter Lights Festival: February 9th-10th
The annual Portland Winter Lights Festival began last weekend, but you can still catch it this weekend as it wraps up another year. It starts at around 6pm and goes until 10pm. Saturday is the final night of the festival, and the lineup of artists, entertainers, performers, and events is the best yet! It’s a great event for all ages, and there are installations set up all around downtown Portland. Visit their website to get a walking or biking map.
Country Dance Night: February 10th
This Saturday, the Troutdale House is hosting a country dace night. It’s $10 per person and the schedule includes line dancing lessons followed by open dancing. Doors open at 6:00pm and the dance will wrap up around 9:30. If you love dancing, or always wanted to learn how to line dance, this is a great event for you! The Troutdale House can be found at: 411 E Historic Columbia River Hwy, Troutdale OR 97060.
Lunar New Year Celebration: February 10th
It’s year of the Dragon and the Lan Su Chinese Garden has planned a lineup of 15 days’ worth of celebrations. On opening day, they invite the community to join them at the gate to the garden for a dragon dance performance put on by Portland Lee’s Association Dragon & Lion Dance Team. The first 500 visitors will receive hongbao (Chinese Red Envelope), and there will be a meet and greet of the Caishen, or God of Wealth in the plaza. This kickoff event will be held from 9:30am-10:00am. Check their website for more details on the other events they will be holding over the next few weeks. The Lan Su garden can be found at: 239 NW Everett St, Portland, OR 97209.
