It’s Mother’s Day Weekend!  There are plenty of women around town who will be honored by their friends and family members, so if you need a few things to do to celebrate the occasion, we’re here to help.  Keep reading to check out amazing weekend events that you, your friends, and your family can enjoy:

Decadent Salads for Spring – May 11th

Would you like to keep things healthy this weekend?  If you would like to learn how to make decadent and beautiful salads at home, this is your chance.  In addition to learning how to make a beautiful citrus quinoa arugula salad, Middle Eastern tabbouleh salad, and Thai salad wraps with peanut sauce, you’ll learn to make 3 signature vinaigrettes from scratch too!

The Hustle – May 11th

Do The Hustle, and do it in Portland!  On the second Friday of each month, you’ll be able to celebrate all disco from new to old with your friends.  Dressing up isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly encouraged.  Each month gets a new DJ, so if you want to check out which one will be playing the best disco records, head here. You can also head to the spareroom facebook page for event details.

Run Mama Run – May 12th

It doesn’t matter if you opt to walk, run, or do both with a stroller, you’ll be supporting a good cause no matter what.  Once you register to participate in the 10K race or the stroller-friendly 5K race, you’ll get prizes.  Prizes include one adult t-shirt, a participant packet with freebies and coupons, and a light breakfast.  Proceeds benefit Mother & Child Education Center, which in turn benefits moms and families in the community.

St. Johns Bizarre – May 12th

How fun will it be to kick off the summer season with a free family-friendly event?  After starting the day with the 56th annual St. John’s parade, the entire six block area of the St. John’s business will be filled with fun.  They will be over 90 craft vendors, live music, yummy treats, and kid friendly activities.

Mother’s Day Rhododendron Show & Sale – May 12th & 13th

If rhododendron flowers make you happy, you’ll be able to see them in peak bloom and make a sweet Mother’s Day purchase this weekend. The show opens at noon on Saturday, May 12 and will continue into Sunday. Plus, if you make a purchase, all proceeds benefit the Garden. For more information, please visit the event website or call 503.771.8386.

Woman Up! -May 12th & 13th

That’s right, woman up!  2018 marks the second annual Woman Up! event.  Join them for a weekend of wellness and celebration of the bold women shaping Oregon’s future, honoring those who’ve paved the way, and inspiring the next generation.  Women and men of all ages are welcome to enjoy workshops, speeches, and enjoy a Woman Up festival after the Mother’s Day Races.  Sunday’s festival will include live music, food trucks, and pop-up shops from your favorite local stores.

Mother’s Day Brunch – May 12th & 13th

Don’t forget, moms come in all shapes and sizes. If you would like to enjoy a fantastic brunch with your favorite moms in your life, you’ll be able to see some of the zoo’s notable moms and families when you finish eating.  This year, the Oregon Zoo is featuring Asian elephant Rose-Tu, mom to 5-year-old Lily and 9-year-old Samudra.

Portland Mother’s Day Tea at Pix Pâtisserie – May 13th

Since brunch doesn’t seem to be going out of style anytime soon, we figured we would throw one more opportunity in this weekend lineup.  Townshend’s tea and bite sized treats will be available, with seating at 2pm and 3:30 pm.  Reservations are available through May 11th, but if space is available after then, Pix Patisserie will be happy to accommodate you.  Check out their decadent menu here.
