Portland’s Cinco De Mayo Fiesta, May 3-5th

Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland is the location of this three-day cultural extravaganza. This is the 31st year of Portland’s celebration, featuring music, dancing, face-painting for kids, and of course, plenty of delicious food. Highlights of this year’s program include Mariachi Ciudad de Guadalajara from Jalisco, Oregon’s Ballet Folklorico Mexico en la Piel, and amateur boxing from Rip City Boxing. Crafty Wonderland, May 3-4th

Since 2006, Crafty Wonderland has been hosting local makers at what has become Portland’s biggest crafts market. This bi-annual event is happening this Friday and Saturday at the Oregon Convention Center in NE Portland. This event is just in time for Mother’s Day, so it is the perfect time to pick up a one-of-a-kind mug, hand-sewn hat, bespoke jewelry, or original artwork for mom. Vendors tend towards the quirky and unusual, so it’s best to show up ready to be surprised. Click on the event page here for tickets and a list of vendors.

Rip City Comedy Festival, May 2-4th

This 3-day event is a celebration of Portland’s emerging comedy scene, hosted by a variety of local venues. There will be a number of local PNW comics featured, along with national headliners, including Steve Agee, Natalie Palamides, AJ Wilkerson and more. They say laughter is the best medicine, and it certainly helps relieve stress. A full schedule of the festival is available at this link.
