As Oregonian’s we really try to pack in all the summer fun before the rain returns and dampens our sunny plans. Here are some fun ideas of how to get the most out of the end of Summer with your friends and family!

Fun for the whole family!

The PDX Adult Soapbox Derby started way back in 1997 on Mt. Tabor. The action starts at 11am and goes on until 4pm with over 42 race teams cruising down Mt. Tabor on their personally designed and assembled racers in pursuit of speed and big laughs. There are also many food and drink booths if the family gets snacky. Sat. 8/19 at 11am Mt. Tabor park.

Kickstand Comedy brings you free and live Comedy in the Park EVERY Friday until Sept. 11th. The show features local and national comedians in one of Portland’s most beautiful spaces, Laurelhurst Park. Bring your friends, pups, blankets, snacks and beverages and support local comedy! The laughs starts at 6:30pm, blankets drop at 6pm. All ages welcome!

Get out and Ride!

Part of Pedalpalooza is the PSU Farmers Market Ride. Ride starts at 10am with 3 meeting points: SE Clinton St & 41st 10am. SE Clinton & 26th 10:10am. Tilikum Bridge at PDX Opera 10:35am. The ending location is PSU’s Fariborz Maseeh Hall at SW Broadway & Harrison. This is an all-ages/all-abilities ride from SE PDX to the PSU Farmers Market to help support local farmers, bakers, and makers of all kinds. This is a great opportunity to meet and develop community in a relaxed, informal setting.

Family Movie Night

City of Portland’s Movies in the Park hosts summer movies in the park from mid-July through early September at parks throughout the city. The events start at 7:30 p.m. with free popcorn and the movies begin at dusk.
