Well, it might not be the sunniest Easter Sunday we’ve had in a while, but it’s Easter nonetheless. And rain or shine any holiday is a great excuse to get together with loved ones, enjoy each others company and have a good time. This weekend we’re sharing some options for fun things to do around town and some creative activities to enjoy from the comfort of home – check it out!

Easter Fun

Even if you choose to stay home this Easter Sunday, that doesn’t mean the family-fun activities have to stop! Start off making some colorful eggs with food coloring or natural dyes. Or try having a glow in the dark egg hunt at home, blindfolded egg hunts, and camouflaged egg hunts. If you need some more ideas to create a fun Easter egg hunt, click here!

Forest Park Trail Treasure Hunt – Saturday, April 8th (FREE!)

Be sure to visit Forest Park this weekend for a fun event for the whole family. Experience the forest while looking for eggs at the Forest Park Trail Treasure Hunt. Groups can choose between three trails for this event:

  • Leif EriksonTrail at the Thurman Lane trailhead
  • Springville Road Trailhead
  • Birch Trailhead

Stop by the trailhead and pick up some information, rules, and geo-coordinates to begin your adventure. Along the bushes, trees, and ferns, you may find an egg with a surprise for you. This is a great learning opportunity for children, as the egg hunt will invite them to learn how to use GPS coordinates and use all of their senses to find their prizes.

Each family or group will be given geo-coordinates that lead to a special egg just for you. But that’s not all, as they’ll have also laid out some eggs along the trails full of candy and bird trivia to usher in the spring!

Hop Into Spring at the Oregon Zoo – Saturday, April 8th

Welcome spring with outdoor lawn games, magic shows, animal encounters and more at Hop into Spring at the Oregon Zoo! The event is a celebration of the spring season geared toward the 10-and-under crowd. FREE with zoo admission. You can get your photo with bee and butterfly characters, enjoy a magic show from Adam the Great, participate in master gardener activities at the Family Farm, play the pollination game at Discovery Plaza, enter giveaways, and enjoy delicious food – don’t miss out!
